Educational Tours
We offer several options for school field trips as well as homeschool groups and special needs adults. To book a tour, please review the options and pricing below and complete the form on the right. NEW FOR 2024: Pricing will be changing slightly for some of our tours and policies around teachers and chaperones will be adjusted as well. Please review “Policies” at the bottom of this page! Title 1 and HeadStart pricing will still be available!
Farm Animal Tour $8.00 per child (April through November)
With this program, everyone will feed the friendly farm animals and take spend time to learn about each one. Then you will take a hayride over the fields & through the Cattail Creek followed by potting your own plant to take home (April - August ONLY) or harvesting your own pumpkin and popcorn to take home (September -November ONLY).
Spring is Growing! $9.00 per child (April & May)
Students learn the parts of a seed, how it grows roots and leaves, and how the parts of a plant help it function. We discuss germination, stems and flowers. All educational material is adapted to suit various grade levels. Take a tour of our greenhouse and see plants at various stages of growth. All children learn the basics of caring for plants and pot their own plant to take home. Students will also take a hayride through Cattail Creek and feed our farm animals.
Wonderful World of Worms! $9.00 per child (April & May)
This is a great introduction for children to learn how they can make a difference in the environment by learning about composting. With this program the children will learn about earthworms and their role in composting. Children will see the entire cycle, from “yucky” food scraps or other organic waste, to the final product. This hands on experience includes dirt, worms and other organic matter. All children will take home a plant they pot using the special worm compost as well as take a hayride through the Cattail Creek and feed the farm animals.
Ponds, Puddles and Creeks! $9.00 per child (May through August)
Students will take a hayride to Cattail Creek then use nets to go into the creek, catching a variety of the creatures that live in and around the creek. We also discuss “the web of life” that exists within the creek, the habitat and the life cycle of amphibians and stream insects. The guide takes time to identify the creatures the children caught and where they live in the food chain. This tour can be presented at many levels, from environmental introduction to sampling for older children. All participants should wear water shoes or old tennis shoes! Students will also feed our farm animals and pot their own plant to take home.
Day in the Life of a Farmer $9.00 per child (September through November)
Students will learn about pollination, the importance of bees, and see an observation beehive as well as learn about the different types of crops that are grown on the farm. After that, everyone will feed the friendly farm animals, take a hayride and finish by harvesting your own pumpkin and popcorn to take home.
Pilgrim History $10.00 per child (Available ONLY November 1 - 8, 2024)
Kids will be able to experience life as a Pilgrim by rotating through stations. They will learn about the home life, chores and the relationships with the Native Americans. The tour also includes feeding the farm animals, taking a hayride and harvesting your own pumpkin and popcorn to take home.
POLICIES 2024
For the well being of our farm and small business, we have had to make adjustments and put into writing some of our policies going forward. This will be new to some of you who have been coming for years and we appreciate all the support of the community whether you have been here 50 times or if it is your first visit.
We will now be charging $100 for any group that cancels without 24 hours notice. This notice MUST be in the form of an email for record keeping and NOT a phone call. Once you have confirmed your date, we expect you will be arriving as planned. If you do not show, a Quickbooks Invoice will be sent to the email address you provide as well as having a paper copy sent to your school or groups physical address. If you are actively in communication due to weather or other extenuating circumstances, and cannot attend this will not be sent.
Payment for chaperones MUST be collected by the school before the trip begins and we will no longer accept individual payment for chaperones the day of. If more chaperones attend the field trip then paid for, an invoice will be sent via Quickbooks for the difference in price. Payment for chaperones may be made separately from the students but MUST be collected by the school and submitted to the farm.
Final estimated numbers for classes MUST be submitted at least a week before the trip and a Quickbooks invoice will be sent to the email provided (Schools AND Homeschools) We will still be honoring Title 1 and HeadStart pricing! Once the final count of students has been made, the invoice may be edited if needed and a receipt will be sent via Quickbooks with if payment is made on the day of in check. All forms of payment are accepted; if you have a Head Start Voucher, please have the “Admission Authorization Form” completed prior to your arrival.
If you select “Free Admission” as your teacher option, all teachers and 1:1 Aids will be free. In order to receive free admission a count of teachers and aids MUST be noted to us before arrival.
If you are part of a Homeschool Co-Op or Group, please note that going forward, the individual reserving the tour will count as a “teacher” and can receive free admission or a teacher basket; all other parents must pay admission.
If you have a special case, please submit that in the bottom of the form and we will work to accommodate you. There will continue to be no fee to cancel for weather or other issues as long as you have cancelled WITHIN 24 HOURS!
