Apple Pie

Best Apple Pie Recipe 1-9″ pie

Ingredients

about 10-12 apples of the sweet-tart varieties

1 tablespoon Cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground dry ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon allspice

1/2 cup all purpose flour

5 tablespoons corn starch

1 cup sugar

1 9″ pie crust (ready made or home made)

Directions: Wash and peel apples. Core and slice the apples. Combine the sugar, flour, corn starch and spices in a bowl. Sprinkle 4-5 tablespoons of the sugar-spice mix into the pie crust and place a layer of apple slices, one slice deep, on top of that. Use any pattern you like, just keep them snug so the air space is minimum. Put another 4-5 tablespoons of the sugar mixture on top of the apples & top with another layer of apples. Repeat layers until pie crust is filled & then some! (The apples cook down a lot) Finally, sprinkle more sugar-spice on top of the pie. Bake at 425*F for 10 minutes. Turn the heat down to 375*F for another 45 minutes to an hour. Pie is done when the apples are soft & the top is golden. Remove to cool.
